A display by the Red Arrows in Minorca tomorrow was cancelled this evening shattering the plans of thousands of people. The news broke about an hour ago with reports saying that the Spanish Ministry of Defence had not given permission for the display but later it was reported that the British Ministry of Defence had cancelled it.
The Red Arrows were due to fly to Gibraltar after their performance in Minorca and this had caused tensions with the Spanish government. It appears that the Spanish government had been putting pressure on the British government to cancel the display at "The Rock."
The announcement will come as a major blow for Minorca and the four British residents who pay for the display. The Red Arrows had been expected to arrive in Mahon tomorrow morninng. The British Embassy had even organised a reception.
