A patera was spotted just south of Cabrera by the Integrated External Surveillance System on Thursday morning according to the Government Delegation.
The Guardia Civil Maritime Service Division and Salvamar Libertas boat were notified and the patera was intercepted at around 04:30.
All 16 migrants onboard are being transferred to Palma port for processing.
